American Board Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner December 2021
I am an American Canadian practicing Physical Therapy since 2002 for more than 20 years. Over the years I have treated most populations young and old with diverse conditions from neuro muscular, orthopedic, to cardiovascular, and in diverse practice settings which include hospital acute care, rehabilitation units, outpatient clinics and home health. I have now added American Board Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner to my title having passed the American Board exam in December 2021 and coach people wanting to optimize health, prevent or even reverse chronic disease through counseling on the pillars of health that are known factors including exercise, nutrition, sleep quality, substance avoidance, stress management and positive social connection.
In 2015 I pursued a life long interest in Pilates having learned in youth Joseph Pilates ability to rehabilitate dancers and help them improve technique and performance by way of maximizing balance in one’s body. Therefore I studied Classical Pilates through Peak Pilates and became fully comprehensive and nationally licensed in teaching classical Pilates (the original Joseph technique) since 2014.
Additionally, I became certified in the specialty of dry needling and advanced dry needling, a technique using acupuncture needles to penetrate and release muscle trigger points (knots or concentrated areas of tension), in early 2017 by Kinetacore known for their excellence in educating and training licensed health care professionals. By adding this tool to my tool box I have been successful in treating thousands of patients who’ve suffered acute and/or chronic pain but particularly successful in neck, back, and headache pain. Many clients have informed me they were about to give up on therapy but decided to give it one last try and were so glad that they did because for the first time in years they were pain free.
Finally, I pursued and achieved successfully the certification and title of Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner through the prestigious Medical Board of American Lifestyle Medicine. This is a scientific based practice to counsel people on the pillars of health that can prevent chronic disease and if applied vigorously, reverse chronic disease through dietary habits, physical activity, stress management, sleep hygiene, positive social connection and avoidance of toxic substances. Please refer to my YouTube Channel “Dr. Alina Kulczycki PT, DPT.” for free videos about it and quick and simple plant based whole food recipes along with subscription based videos to be utilized as the User Manual you always wanted to optimize your physical function for every joint, my fitness program, and pillars of health videos to inform and help guide you on your journey.
A PASSION FOR DANCE: I returned to my life long passion of dance when I relocated to San Antonio. I had danced ballet and tap since six years of age and jazz in my teens with the Lorraine Bedini Dance Academy in Canada. In university I studied modern dance as part of my Kinesiology program and took up Latin dancing assisting with teaching at the university Salsa Club. Upon arrival to San Antonio I happily discovered there was plenty of flamenco and studied with world renowned artists including Carmen “Chiqui” Linares, Antonio Granjero and Estefania Ramirez, as well as local artists Jackie Rodriguez, La Sonya Casillas, and Genevieve Obregon.
